'Most media texts target a range of different audiences. How true is this true for your chosen text?'

  'Madmen' is a critically acclaimed TV series set in the world on advertising in the 1960's. There are many issues in Season 5 Episode 11 where different theories are applied to target a range of different audiences.
  Firstly the storyline involving Joan's prostituting herself to secure the Jaguar contract deals with many themes such as female sexuality and sexual objectification. Although Joan stands up for herself when approached by Pete, she still results in prostitution which constructs a message that no matter how much women try to be equal, men are always going to view women as sexual objects because thats how they are perceived from a males point of view. The uses and gratifications theory is used here as we are informed of relationships in the work place, society and the role of women and men. From this we learn about the feminist movement and how the older generation have different viewpoints in the scene where....
